Deleting your account
Deleting your account
If you want to permanently close your account — not just cancel, but delete — you can do that yourself from the account settings page. This article walks through what happens, in what order, and what you can't undo.
Before you start: export your data
Your fan list is permanently erased the moment you confirm. Not in 30 days — immediately, at the time you click the button. Even if you restore your account within the window, your fan list does not come back.
Before deleting, download anything you want to keep:
- Fan list (CSV) — go to Fans → Export to download your email list.
- Merch orders — download from the Merch section in your dashboard.
- Release buyers — available from Music → Releases for any paid releases.
Your bio, photos, audio masters, and press photos live on your own devices anyway — but pull anything else you only stored in Sonic Bloom.
How to delete your account
- Open your dashboard and go to Account → Preferences.
- Scroll to the Danger zone section at the bottom of the page.
- Click Delete account.
- Read the consequences page. There's a lot of permanent here.
- Type your artist name (or the word DELETE) and your current password to confirm.
- Click Yes, delete my account.
Deleting from the iPhone app
You can do the same thing from the app — you don't need a computer.
- Open the app and tap the account icon in the top right.
- Tap Delete my account, under Sign out.
- Read what it tells you, then type your artist name (or the word DELETE).
- Tap Delete my account.
The app doesn't ask for a password. If you signed in with Apple you never set one, so being signed in on that phone is what confirms it's you — the same way the app already trusts you to book shows and email your fans.
Everything below applies exactly the same whether you delete from the app or the web. Deleting on your phone signs out every other phone on the account too.
If you subscribed in the iPhone app, cancel with Apple FIRST
Deleting your Sonic Bloom account does not stop an App Store subscription. Apple holds that subscription, not us, and Apple gives us no way to cancel it on your behalf — so if you only delete your account, Apple keeps charging you every month for a product you no longer have.
Do this first, before you delete anything:
- On your iPhone, open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Sonic Bloom, then Cancel Subscription.
Not sure which one you have? Check the account menu at the top of your dashboard — it says Subscribed · App Store when Apple is billing you. If it doesn't say that, you subscribed on the website and deleting your account is enough.
What happens immediately
The moment you confirm:
- Your subscription is cancelled — if you subscribed on the website. If you subscribed in the iPhone app it is not, and Apple keeps charging you until you cancel it in your Apple Account settings (see above). Either way there are no prorated credits or refunds — you lose whatever time remained.
- Your site goes dark. Your subdomain and custom domain stop serving immediately. Fans hitting your links get nothing.
- Your fan list is permanently deleted. Every email, name, and signup record is gone. This cannot be restored even if you come back.
- Your fan club members are notified that the fan club is ending. Their billing is cancelled.
What's kept for 30 days
Your releases, shows, pages, bio, media, and other content are preserved for 30 days after you delete. If you contact us within that window, we can restore your account to where it was — minus your fan list, which is gone permanently.
After 30 days, everything is hard-deleted from our servers and cannot be recovered.
Your Stripe Express account
We never touch your Stripe Express account. Your tips, sales, and fan club revenue live there — not with us. Deleting your Sonic Bloom account does nothing to your Stripe balance or your payout schedule. Any pending amounts pay out on Stripe's normal schedule.
To access your balance or download tax documents after deletion, log in directly at express.stripe.com. Your Stripe account is yours indefinitely.
Changed your mind? You have 30 days.
If you deleted your account and want to restore it, email hello@sonicbloom.app within 30 days. We can restore your releases, shows, pages, bio, and media. Your fan list is gone permanently regardless of when you reach out.
After 30 days, we cannot restore your account — the data has been purged from our servers.
Canceling instead of deleting
If you just want to stop paying — not erase everything — consider canceling your subscription instead of deleting your account. Canceling stops the billing; your content, site, and fan list are held intact while your account is inactive. See Canceling your account for how that works.
