Billing and your subscription

Billing and your subscription

Sonic Bloom is one simple plan: $20/month, or $200/year (paying yearly saves you $40). Every artist gets everything — website, custom domain, music sales, tip jar, merch, fan club, mailing list, campaigns, EPK. No tiers, no feature gates, no per-sale commission. The $20 is all we take; your sales are yours minus only Stripe's card fee. See Fees and commission.

Your free trial — build everything, pay when you go live

You start with a 30-day free trial — no credit card required. Build your whole site, add music, set up your store, connect your tip jar and Stripe, even connect a custom domain — all of it, free. Nothing is locked during the trial.

The one thing the trial doesn't do is put your site in front of the public. You pay when you go live. The moment you take your site public (or send your first email/SMS campaign), you'll be asked to start your subscription — and that's when the $20 is charged. Until then you're building in private, for free, for as long as your trial lasts.

A couple of things to know:

  • Going live is the pay point. Connecting a custom domain, setting up your tip jar, building your store — all free in the trial. They just go public when you go live and pay.
  • You'll see reminders as your trial winds down, so the end date never sneaks up on you.

Starting your subscription

When you go live (or send a campaign), we'll take you to checkout. Choose monthly ($20) or annual ($200), enter your card, and your subscription starts right then — the first charge is immediate, and it renews automatically (monthly or yearly). Your card is handled securely by Stripe — we don't store your card number. You can cancel anytime and keep access through the end of the period you've paid for.

Subscribing from the iPhone app

You can start a subscription in the app instead. Ask Roadie for something that needs one — taking your site live, sending a campaign — and it'll offer, or find it under the account icon → Subscribe. It's the same $20 a month and the same account; the difference is who takes the money.

If you subscribed in the app, Apple bills you, not us. That changes three things, and they're the three that catch people out:

  • Cancel it with Apple, not here. iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Sonic Bloom. The Manage billing button below won't show it, because we can't see or touch an Apple subscription from our side.
  • Your receipts come from Apple. They're in your Apple Account purchase history, not in our billing portal.
  • Deleting your Sonic Bloom account does not cancel it. We have no way to stop an Apple subscription — cancel it in Settings first, then delete the account, or Apple will keep charging you for something that no longer exists.

Monthly only in the app for now. The annual price is on the website.

If you already subscribed on the website, the app knows and won't sell you a second one.

Managing your billing

From your dashboard, go to Account → Subscription and click Manage billing to open the secure portal directly. You can also reach it from the Billing section. The portal lets you:

  • Update your payment card
  • Switch between monthly and annual
  • View and download your invoices/receipts
  • See your next billing date

If a payment fails

If your card is declined at renewal, we'll email you right away with a link to update it. Your site stays live for 7 days while you sort things out — Stripe retries the charge automatically in that window, so if you update your card before the retry you're all set with no extra steps. Just open the billing portal from the link in the email (or from Billing in your dashboard) and update your payment method.

Two different "money" things — don't mix them up

  • Your subscription ($20/mo to Sonic Bloom) is what you pay us to use the platform. That's this article.
  • Your earnings (tips, sales, merch, fan club) flow through your Stripe account directly to you — we never take a cut. That's Understanding payouts.

Want to cancel?

Subscribed in the app? Cancel it in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, not here. See above.

Otherwise, see Canceling your account — including what happens to your site and your data (short version: you can always export your fan list and walk away).
